Many of these sites may be the only English news source in their countries. They may be the official mouthpiece of the government. You may not get news that is free and independent but instead it will be filled with propaganda – like some of the sources from the USA.
I think it is unfortunate that most Americans are not aware of much of the news outside the US. It is common to watch the “world news” in the US, and there isn’t a single story outside the country. Living abroad gives you the best perspective of other international opinions. You can learn more by actually living outside the US – but watching live global news is another good option for broadening your understanding of the world.
