Wildlife Center of Virginia rescues Great Horned Owlet | Patient of the Week

On April 2, the Wildlife Center of Virginia admitted its first baby raptor of 2025 — a nestling Great Horned Owlet from Fredericksburg, Virginia. The owlet had fallen out of its nest and was found on the ground. Rescuers initially planned to re-nest the young bird, but noticed its eyes were cloudy. Concerned the owlet might be blind, they brought it to the Center for evaluation.

RCSO responded to call of suicide threat

At approximately 3am, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an in-progress suicide threat with a knife at a residence in the 6-thousand block of Rawley Pike.

JMU Softball loses series finale at Louisiana, 9-2

Miscues by the James Madison softball defense proved to be the difference in Sunday’s contest as the Ragin’ Cajun defeated the Dukes by a score of 9-2 to take the third game of the Sun Belt Conference set on Sunday afternoon at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

James Madison Baseball drops game two to No. 20 Troy, 6-3

James Madison was tied through three innings with No. 20 Troy, but a three-run homer from the Trojans in the fourth inning broke it as the Dukes fell, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park in Sun Belt Conference baseball.
